Your improv needs some novocaine.
If funny, game-based scene work is the needle, then playing things absolutely, completely real at the top of the scene is the novocaine. Without it the patient/audience recoils at the needle and won’t allow the dentist/improvisers to do further work.
Watching improvisers trust themselves to play it real is compelling. It might not get laughs right away,...
